In my opinion the name of "CS" should be given to this deps. This is also a deep theoretical problem. However, many theoreticians don't actively work on it because they need to publish in order to get PhD's/get tenure/etc. Focusing solely on such a hard problem is the luxury of ppl with secure positions in academia. If computer science majors want to apply their learned skills, would they not be better off developing complex software used by NASA, defense military and such? I agree with jrdittmann, I also see computer science majors as those that build tools for developing software.
